Terms
These are the terms for working with Shipyard Labs. If anything's unclear, ask us before you sign up.
1. What each plan includes
You pick one plan when you sign up. Here's what each one includes.
Launch
$900 one time. We build it, you own it.
- Up to 5 pages, built for phones first
- A contact form, a tap-to-call button and a map
- Set up so Google can find it, and linked to your Google listing (the one with your map pin and reviews)
- 2 rounds of changes while we build
- Live at your own web address
- Handed over once it's live: the domain in your name, the hosting in your own account, and the site files
- 14 days of free fixes after launch
- After that, changes are $60 an hour (30 minutes minimum), or you can move to Care
Care
$400 up front, plus $79 a month from launch. We build it and look after it.
- Up to 5 pages, built for phones first
- A contact form, a tap-to-call button and a map
- Set up so Google can find it, and linked to your Google listing (the one with your map pin and reviews)
- 2 rounds of changes while we build
- Live at your own web address
- We pay for and run your domain, hosting and security certificate
- Email us your changes: up to 5 small ones a month (text, photos, prices, hours, or a new section on a page you already have), live within 2 business days
- We watch that the site stays up, and we keep backups
- Month to month. Cancel any time with 30 days' notice
- If you leave, the domain moves to you for free. The site files are yours free after 12 months (before that, a $500 buy-out)
Care Plus
$900 up front, plus $149 a month from launch. For businesses that change things often.
- Up to 10 pages, built for phones first
- A contact form, a tap-to-call button and a map
- Set up so Google can find it, and linked to your Google listing (the one with your map pin and reviews)
- 3 rounds of changes while we build
- Live at your own web address
- Everything in Care, with no limit on small changes, live by the next business day
- Online booking or ordering hooked up (Square, Calendly, Housecall Pro, Toast and the like). The booking service bills you for its own fees
- A chat box that answers common questions (hours, prices, how to book) from the info you give us. It's automated, and anything it can't answer, it tells people to call you
- A short visitor report every month
- A check-in call every three months
Extras on any plan: an extra page is $100, an extra round of changes is $75, and bigger features get a price before we start.
2. Payments
- To start, you pay a 50% deposit on Stripe's checkout page. The deposit starts the work.
- The deposit is refundable in full until we send your first draft. After that, it isn't refundable.
- The rest is due at launch, before the site goes live.
- Care and Care Plus are billed monthly by Stripe, starting on launch day. You get a page where you can update your card or cancel.
- If a monthly payment fails, Stripe tries the card again over the next few days. If it's still unpaid after 14 days, we may take the site offline until it's paid. We'll tell you before we do.
- We never take card numbers over the phone.

3. Changes and rounds
- A round is one list of changes sent together, with the changes form or by email. We turn each round around in 2 business days.
- Launch and Care include 2 rounds during the build. Care Plus includes 3. An extra round is $75.
- Anything beyond the agreed pages or features gets a price first, and is never just billed.
- After launch, Launch gets 14 days of free fixes for anything not working as agreed, then $60 an hour (30 minutes minimum).
- Care gets up to 5 small changes a month. Care Plus gets unlimited small changes.
- Small means text, photos, prices, hours, or a new section on a page you already have. A new page or feature gets a price first.
- Urgent changes (hours changed today, closed for weather) sent before 2 pm on a business day go up the same day on Care and Care Plus.
4. What we need from you
Your content (photos, logo, text, hours and prices) within 30 days of signing up. If we don't have it by then, we pause the project until you're ready.
5. Hosting and Care
Care and Care Plus are month to month. You can cancel any time with 30 days' notice. While you're on Care, we pay for and run your domain, hosting and security certificate.
Other services bill you directly. If you use a booking, ordering or payment service (Square, Calendly, Toast and the like) or a business email account, its fees are yours. We set it up and connect it to your site, but we don't pay for it.
6. Ownership
- Launch: everything is yours after the final payment.
- Care and Care Plus: the domain is registered in your business's name. If you leave, it moves to you for free. The site files are yours after 12 months, or before that with a $500 buy-out.
- Showing your site: we may show your finished site as an example of our work, unless you ask us not to.
7. Your content
You confirm you have the right to use the photos and logos you send us.
8. What we don't promise
We set up the Google basics, but we don't promise a specific Google ranking or number of visitors. No one can promise that.
9. If something goes wrong
The most we owe you for any problem is what you paid us in the 12 months before it happened. We aren't responsible for lost sales or other losses while a site is down, or for services we don't run, like your booking system, your email or Google.
10. Privacy
We use your details only to build and run your site.
11. Who these terms are with
Shipyard Labs is run by Shipyard Labs LLC, a Kentucky company. These terms follow Kentucky law.
